📖 Tradition, innovation, and the passage of time
The piece places the physical body at the center of an artistic reflection on time as a reality that endures, transforms, and reappears. Guided by this concept, the show crafts a choreographic dialogue that moves from classical ballet foundations to contemporary forms of expression.
The program features «Paquita - Grand pas classique», choreographed by George Balanchine to Tchaikovsky's Serenade in C major for String Orchestra, Op. 48, renowned for its academic rigor and refined elegance. It is complemented by William Forsythe's «The Second Detail», set to music by Thom Willems, known for its physical energy and bold exploration of movement boundaries.
🏛️ Compañía Nacional de Danza at the Zarzuela
Rather than presenting a linear history of dance, the Compañía Nacional de Danza creates an environment where heritage and modernity coexist dynamically. Accompanied by the Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid (ORCAM), the company offers a vivid testament to how classical discipline continuously reinvents itself on stage.
ℹ️ Good to know: Performances on October 23, 24, 25, 30, 31, and November 1 include a free educational outreach activity.
✨ An exceptional opportunity to experience the dialogue between the history and the future of ballet.
