Teatro Real presents a new production of The Marriage of Figaro, one of the undisputed masterpieces of universal opera. 🎭🎼

This acclaimed score marked the first collaboration between Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and celebrated librettist Lorenzo Da Ponte. On this occasion, Canadian director Robert Carsen takes charge of the stage direction, while Stefano Montanari leads the musical direction conducting the Chorus and Orchestra of Teatro Real.

📖 A masterly comedy of intrigue and power dynamics

The plot takes place entirely in the Almaviva palace, where Figaro and Susanna finalize their wedding preparations while outsmarting the Count, who is determined to seduce the young maid. The Countess joins the servants to expose her husband's infidelity, setting off an intricate series of disguises, mistaken identities, and comedic twists that ultimately leads to the Count's plea for forgiveness in the palace gardens.

Robert Carsen's staging weaves together comic wit and philosophical reflection on authority and abuse of power. The performance is sung in Italian with surtitles in English and Spanish.

Based on the play by Pierre-Augustin de Beaumarchais, this production features a prestigious cast including Mattia Olivieri, Carles Pachon, Olga Kulchynska, Elsa Dreisig, Sara Blanch, Giulia Semenzato, Luca Micheletti, and Germán Olvera. Set design is crafted by Christian Schmidt and costumes by Luis Carvalho.
