📖 Sound exploration between tradition and the avant-garde
Lise Barkas is an Alsatian bagpiper and hurdy-gurdy player based in Strasbourg who brings her powerful and challenging artistic vision to Madrid for the very first time. Her sonic research focuses on the traditional drone of the medieval hurdy-gurdy as well as modern drone languages in just intonation.
Having studied the traditional tunes and dances of central France with a teacher who was an active part of the 1970s instrument revival, Barkas takes this ancient craft into bold new territories, performing regularly at noise festivals as well as dancefloors.
🎶 The Limo concert series at CentroCentro
The concert series “Limo . Músicas corrientes” at CentroCentro brings together projects that blur the lines of musical genres, linking historical folklore with contemporary sound experimentation. This live set provides an exceptional opportunity to discover the raw energy of the hurdy-gurdy right at Plaza de Cibeles.
✨ An immersive listening experience weaving centuries of folk heritage with fearless sound experimentation.
