📖 Memory, real voices, and mental health
Órgia is built using the Verbatim theatre technique. The piece is shaped around field research and direct interviews with female workers who took part in the closure of the Miraflores psychiatric hospital in Seville during the 1980s.
By combining three distinct timelines and a variety of stage languages, the performance weaves together documentary theatre, intimate personal accounts, and collective celebration. It places previously silenced female perspectives at the heart of the narrative, vindicating the body, memory, and shared human experience.
🎭 La Rara and their acclaimed project
Rocío Hoces and Julia Moyano's company is celebrated for its deep commitment to contemporary research and social documentary performance. Thanks to this piece, La Rara received the Lorca Award 2024 for Best Breakthrough Show.
This run at Madrid's Teatro de la Abadía offers audiences a chance to engage with a stage work examining forgotten chapters in psychiatric care.
✨ An engaging opportunity to experience an award-winning documentary play dedicated to collective memory and women's experiences.
