📖 A raw look at American society

Tired of commercial assignments, Robert Frank spent years traveling across numerous American states. That bold journey produced 800 rolls of film and nearly 28,000 photographs. This exhibition showcases the 83 pictures chosen by the artist, which challenged mid-century conventions through motion blur, tilted framing, and unbalanced compositions.

From Hollywood stars to everyday citizens, diners, funerals, and rodeos, Frank captured spontaneous scenes of minority groups and marginalized communities, revealing an authentic view of a society undergoing major transformations.

🎨 Documentary and visual legacy

The exhibition also features excerpts from Laura Israel's documentary 'Robert Frank, la mirada de América' (2015), where the photographer recounts anecdotes, accusations, and insights into his spontaneous shooting style. Once dismissed as anti-American, Frank's series is now acclaimed as a cornerstone of modern visual culture.
