🧵 The exhibition
Sound, sculpture, drawing and performance unpick the contradictions of colonial legacies. Niño de Elche and Pedro G. Romero follow the imperial trade routes that shaped flamenco, especially the Manila Galleon (1565-1815), starting from the Manila shawl: embroidered in China, sold across the Americas and later adopted as a symbol of Spanishness.
La Chola Poblete (Argentina, 1989) turns to her own body, merging it with figures such as the Virgin Mary, Pachamama or Che Guevara to reveal how capitalism, patriarchy and nationalism discipline bodies.
