The capital's traditional open-air flea market brings Sunday and holiday mornings to life across the streets of the Centro district. 🥁

📖 A municipal market with 1,200 stalls

El Rastro features a total of 1,200 licensed stalls spread across an extensive urban perimeter. The market area stretches from Plaza de Cascorro and Calle Ribera de Curtidores down to Ronda de Toledo and Plaza Campillo del Mundo Nuevo, including streets such as Embajadores, Amazonas, Mira el Río Alta and Baja, Carnero, Carlos Arniches, San Cayetano, Fray Ceferino González, Mira el Sol, and Maldonadas.

During the official morning hours, these streets become a large pedestrian open-air market where visitors can wander among outdoor stalls and local stores.

🥁 The Ribera de Curtidores district

The heart of this street market is situated in Madrid's Centro district, centered around the Ribera de Curtidores thoroughfare and Plaza General Vara de Rey. While the street stalls operate strictly on Sundays and holidays, local antique shops and art galleries in the area remain open during regular weekdays.

ℹ️ Good to know: Metro: Tirso de Molina (Line 1), Embajadores (Line 3), and La Latina (Line 5). Cercanías Renfe commuter train: Embajadores (Line C5). On weekdays, local shops, antique dealers, and galleries open, but the outdoor street stalls do not.
