📖 Vocal repertoire to celebrate the festive season
This special concert brings together the talent of fifty-one boy choristers aged between nine and seventeen. These young performers, chosen through competitive auditions, pursue an extensive academic and musical education at the Real Colegio de Alfonso XII inside the monastery.
The holiday performance highlights their dedicated daily practice in singing and instruments, showcasing a centuries-old liturgical tradition adapted for the Madrid stage, designed for families and sacred music enthusiasts alike.
🎶 About the Escolanía del Escorial
Founded in 1974 by the Augustinian friars of the Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, the ensemble continues the legacy of the young choristers who sang the Dawn Mass for the reigning monarch from the monastery's very inception. Aside from their key role in liturgical feasts, they have toured internationally across Germany, China, the United States, Hungary, and Italy.
Throughout their history they have performed before the Spanish Royal Family and sang during the 2011 World Youth Day in the presence of Pope Benedict XVI. In 2013, the choir was awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of Dos de Mayo by the Community of Madrid.
ℹ️ Good to know: Reduced rate of €16 for Youth Card holders, seniors over 65, large families, visitors with disabilities, and jobseekers. Special tickets are available for children under 14 (€15) and under 2 (€1).
