Museo Reina Sofía (Madrid)
C/ de Santa Isabel, 52, 28012 Madrid
In 1965, in Buenos Aires, Marta Minujín and Rubén Santantonín built a maze of rooms to be crossed with all five senses. It was called «La Menesunda» and is now considered one of the first immersive installations in history. 🌀✨
The Reina Sofía rebuilds it, based on research by the Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires.

🖼️ The exhibition
Minujín (Buenos Aires, 1943), winner of the Velázquez Prize in 2016, is a key figure of the happening and participatory art. «La Menesunda» replaced contemplation with experience: visitors do not look at the work, they walk through it.
Conceived as an ephemeral «environment» for the Di Tella Institute, at the height of Argentina's cultural ferment, it is rebuilt room by room so it can be lived as it was then.
🏛️ Planning your visit
Entry is free on Mondays and Wednesday to Saturday from 7 to 9 pm, and on Sundays from 12.30 to 2.30 pm, for individual visitors only. If you already have a ticket, the museum recommends entering through the Nouvel building (Ronda de Atocha, 2).
ℹ️ Good to know: Closed on 24, 25 and 31 December and on 1 and 6 January.
✨ A 1965 maze you still cross with all five senses.
