Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza hosts a full-day gathering dedicated to historical and colonial reflection in collaboration with the Spanish Public History Association (AEHP), Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM), and Casa de Velázquez (École des hautes études hispaniques e ibériques).

📖 Silencios que gritan: cartografías, pedagogías y utopías de la España colonial

Colonial Spain remains present in maps, museums, cities, narratives, and ways of remembering. This festival aims to reveal these traces and explore the silences that have hidden, displaced, or transformed them over time.

Through cartography, education, and critical imagination, the conference poses new questions to the past, affirming that what remains unnamed is also an essential part of collective memory and that listening to silences is crucial to rethinking history.

🏛️ Decolonial museum programming

This conference is part of the decolonial programming developed by the museum in recent years, designed to open historical debate and critical reflection to the wider public.

ℹ️ Good to know: Sessions take place in the museum auditorium. The event is open to the general public with free admission on a first-come, first-served basis until full capacity is reached, with no advance booking.

✨ A singular opportunity to listen to historical silences and reconsider our shared memory.
